By contracting with Decision Innovation Solutions, the South Dakota Department of Agriculture was able to determine the overall economic contribution of agriculture to their state's economy. From the production of agriculture commodities, to food and feed processing, to agricultural input manufacturing and other ag-supported industries, the results indicated that agriculture accounted for more than 30 percent of South Dakota's total economy and employs 1 in every 5 South Dakotans. 

In addition to showcasing the importance of major agriculture sectors for each of South Dakota's counties, the study also quantifies the contribution of other South Dakota industries such as manufacturing, construction, and financial. To see the full report, click here.
