Welcome to the team!
This month DIS added Janell Hansen to our team as our Consulting Global Administrator. Janell will be responsible for looking over our Microsoft services. She works with installation and help desk issues for Office 365 and SharePoint permissions for users. In this role, she also creates users on our domain and provides support for security.
Janell received a full scholarship to play basketball and volleyball at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa, and earned an associate degree in Computer Technology. Her first job was working on a government contract to help jobless people create resumes and help them with presenting themselves for an interview. While there, she developed a database to keep all this information in order. Janell then spent 12 years at Hawkeye Bank, Hawkeye Bancorporation and Mercantile Bank as a Computer/User Technician working with the word processing department and assisted the Network Administrator with all branches of the bank in Des Moines.
Janell recently retired after 25 years from Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, starting out as a Software Services Specialist, and ending as the Help Desk Manager of the department she created. During her time at Farm Bureau, she earned certifications of Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS), Microsoft Certified Service Advisor (MCSA), and Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). She also had taken classes in Microsoft Azure Portal Administrator.
Janell grew up on a dairy farm in SW Iowa, Adair County, on a 350-acre corn and beans farm. She had 75 cows that needed to be milked every night and morning, no matter what the weather was. She raised german shepherd puppies and many of them were sold to K9 units. She raised horses and she and her father were members of the Fontanelle Saddle Club for many years.
Janell and her husband, Brian, live in Beaverdale in Des Moines, Iowa. She has two children, Alex, and Amy, and two stepchildren, Kyren and Alainee, and 4 grandchildren. Janell has already helped DIS make crucial changes to help better our company and we can’t wait for what the future brings us.
