American Feed Industry Association Social Media Campaign

As a Marketing-Communications Intern at Decision Innovation Solutions, I have had the opportunity to take on many different tasks regarding our social media channels. Most recently, I have started to create a social media campaign for the economic research DIS did for the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) and the Institute for Feed Education & Research (IFEEDER). In the economic contribution study, DIS compiled information regarding how the animal and pet food manufacturing industry supports jobs, sales, and the overall economy of each individual state, and for the United States as a whole. This research was crucial to help people understand the impact that agriculture and the animal feed industry plays in different states. For example, did you know that more than 5,715 animal feed and 517 pet food facilities take farm-grown crops and ingredients as well as food coproducts and develop high-quality, nutritious and safe animal food?!

Through this campaign, our goal is to help followers understand the positive impact the animal feed industry has on the United States. Each week, for 50 weeks, there will be a “featured state of the week” on all our social media channels. These posts will include the total sales, value-added, labor income, jobs, and taxes for each state related to the animal feed and pet food manufacturing industry. For example, this post regarding the impact the animal feed and pet food manufacturing industry has in the United States will be featured first:

AFIA USA

As the weeks continue, we will be posting two posts each week. One post will be regarding the economic contribution of the animal feed and pet food manufacturing industry and the other will be about the animal feed consumption for the featured state. For example, week one will start with these two posts:

AFIA Alabama

AFIA Feed Consumption

At the end of the campaign, we hope that we reach our goal of helping followers have a better understanding of the meaning of this economic research and how it impacts agriculture and the United States economy every day. As mentioned previously, DIS completed this report for the American Feed Industry Association. Below, you will find a testimonial regarding the great work the DIS team did on this project!

"Decision Innovation Solutions' (DIS) knowledge and background in agriculture made them a natural fit to help us quantify the economic impact and volume of the animal food industry. The team at DIS was easy to work with, knowledgeable and thorough. Their excellent work has provided us a valuable resource to educate lawmakers, staff and the general public about how the animal food industry supports jobs, builds the economy and about what animals eat. DIS went above and beyond our expectations by not only delivering the study, but creating an interface so we could easily break the data down into usable chunks of information about states and congressional districts. The research has proved invaluable for our state and federal government affairs work and we look forward to working with DIS again in the future. DIS delivers on objectives, is flexible and accommodating of customer needs and ensures the quality of their product is unmatched."
